I just noticed some weird behaviour in System Profiler, don't know when it
started (On 10.4.2 with latest security patch now).

When I look at Software->Extensions in System Profiler, I can click on
an extension name and the window below show more info about it.
However after I click on the column header ' Last Modified', this doesn't work
anymore. Whatever extension I select, the info window keeps showing the
same data. Has anybody else noticed this? Call me a newbie, but I think this is weird.

Nobody with this problem?

Replying to my own post. [mental note: must look for friends].

But am I the only one that observes this weird behaviour? It looks as
part of the system profiler program crashes.

I get the same thing, though I never use system profiler so I don't even really know what the impact of this "bug" (minor annoyance?) is. I'm running 10.4.2 with only the 32bit security patch on a 1GHz G4 iMac

I seem to be getting it too. Plus I'm seeing a whole lot of other weird behaviour going on. Say I'm on 'AppleHWClock', I can see the dialogue box for AppleHWClock, then, when I click on Date Modified, nothing happens. Now, when I click on 'AppleAirport2', AppleAirport2 is highlighted, but the dialogue box for AppleHWClock remains. Now if I sort by Version, 'IOCControllerPPC' is selected and the dialogue for IOCControllerPPC is present. Now, when I sort by Extension Name, AppleAirport2 is selected and the appropriate dialogue appears in the box at the bottom.

Excellent, I think I've just cured my insomnia! 🙂
