Hello Guys
i have a wonderfull Powerbook g4 aluminium and i install fresh a new version of tiger. as i use my Powerbook very often the Powerbook wont boot anymore and it stuck on the Boot Screen. So i decided to reinstall tiger again. in the next day the system faild again and stuck again in the boot screen . So i decided i put the hard disk (mac os Leopard) from my Powerbook 12 inch to the Powerbook 15 inch. It runs a couple of days very well. But then it got stuck on boot screen again with Leopard. Then I switched to the original Harddisk and it runs normaly jet (tiger). i putted back the Leopard disk in my Powerbook 12 inch and i wont boot sadly but my Powerbook 15 with tiger works jet. I wait to the point as it fails again with tiger. Why both Powerbooks fail everytime at booting in to a operating system by the time.
ive read that i could be something with the PMU Battery so i decided to buy a new one for my Powerbook G4 15 inch.
or could at be because of the Hard Disk. (the hard disk from the 12 inch poiwerbook is new)

Thanks for Help (sorry bad english i come from germany )

Hey there,
If its getting stuck during boot, use disk utility to repair and Fix the discs to avoid that issue, you can also try to boot in verbose mode to see where is falling.
PMU battery is not always a valid reason for a boot stuck.

Every other crash reports follow this report 35
Mostly its says Error 35 : Resource temporarily unavailable

help please

I see some IO errors on the picture than you posted. if disk utility is not able to repair the partition or the hard drive, you'll have to get a new drive and perform a clean install. because that hard drive has a lot of bad sectors and some critical files are not working anymore :(

But why is that so . Like I used it than I turn the powerbook off startled again and then it don’t work

If I understand you correctly, your PB15 was freezing on bootup. You swapped your PB15 and PB12 hard drives with each other. The swap resolved the PB15 bootup freeze and now your PB12 is exhibiting the same boot freezing issue as the your PB15 illustrating the problem is on the hard drive and not with the machine.

I agree that the hard drive has failed and you need a new one. Perfect time for a big SDD upgrade.

Be careful with those powerbook hdd ribbon cables. They are quite fragile at this point. Use a spudger to apply leverage to remove it and not the cable itself. I can tell you that there is nothing worse than upgrading to a big fast SSD just to have the ribbon cable fail on one of these old books. :p

And no need to apologize. Your English is 100 times better than my German!
