I've experienced two lockups over the course of the evening.

Maybe I'm working with too high resolution images in Photoshop and it's clogging up the system.

Anywho, anyone have any quick 'n dirty tips for cleaning out caches and stuff beyond just fixing permissions?

Praying to the computer gods. Doing a dance.

Restarting the computer. Making sure you have enough RAM.

Running "top" in the terminal and seeing what it tells you is sucking CPU power and memory space.

Sprinkling the computer with holy... er... never mind...

i have system optimiser x which does all the usual maintainence tasks repair permissions, daily, weekly monthly tasks etc but it will also optimize the hdd and clear the caches for the entire system or just the user.

it is shareware but its fully useable in the meantime though!
