Today I noticed this weird darkened spot on my iPhone screen (mid bottom of the picture). I have no idea where it came from... I didn't hit it against anything or drop it. Their are no signs of damage. When the phone is on you can notice the darkened color on lighter backgrounds.

So what are the chances of me getting this fixed under AppleCare?

I'd say that they would replace it as long as you didnt drop it

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU like Mac OS X; en) AppleWebKit/420.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.0 Mobile/4A102 Safari/419.3)

I got my phone replaced recently due to a bright white spot that developed on the screen and would get brighter with more use. When the iPhone was cold it was not present. They swapped it out at the genius bar as a hardware defect.

.... fridge method didn't work so well for me.

Taking it to the Apple Store on the other hand resulted in a new phone no questions asked. :)
