Weird dashboard widgets behavior

I am noticing something peculiar with my dashboard and its widgets. I would have certain widgets I don't need unchecked using the widget manager so as to disable them, but every once in a while, I would find that my dashboard has been reset to default, such that all the widgets are once again enabled.

This has happened a number of times already.

I have no idea what could it be that may cause this and it's kind of creeping me out a little. I am the only user of my macbook so it's just not possible someone else is physically messing with it.

Does anyone know any possible reason as to why this is happening?

Does it correspond with you restarting the machine (or logging out/in)? Are you saying you get the default OSX widgets that first showed up when you bought the machine, or is it reverting back to a set up that you'd made for yourself a while ago? Maybe check the permissions on a file named com.apple.dashboard.plist in your Preferences folder. 🙂
