Weird Duplicate Files

Recently I've been noticing some really weird duplicate files. Most of them seem to come from my Flash drive. I usually notice them when I try to cp a directory from my Flash drive onto my harddrive and I get this error message.

cp: /Volumes/FLASH/._.DS_Store: could not copy extended attributes to ~/FLASH ._.DS_Store: Operation not permitted
(I edited out the directories)

And when I open them, they all have this message

I am completely baffled and I hope someone can explain this. =]
