Hello everyone.

I know a paranoid is always quality fodder for jokes, and I agree and welcome them, but having spent 1400€ on a phone for the first time, I guess it's legit to ask about something weird, being still in my return period.

Fortunately my phone (14 pro 256GB) hasn't been plagued with the camera shaking effects.
Tested it and operation in video, both with apple's owns and third party apps is normal, however upon watching some videos I recorded in silent environments I noticed there was a weird electric sound, like a very faint electric buzz.
The sound can'y be heared from normal distance but can be heared faintly in recordings, as it's close to the phone's mic.

I noticed that this buzz (similar like a coil whine) can be heared coming from the camera bump when in operation, and this doesn't happen on my earlier regular 13.
This being my first pro, I have no frame of reference so maybe this is normal operation for the more advanced sensors and stabilization systems, but better to be sure as the sound shouldn't appear in recordings to say the least.

I'm still expecting the "miraculous 16.0.2 patch that's supposed to fix a lot of things, next week, before thinking about returning the device, but I'd like to know your thoughts.

Perhaps this is a normal quirk of pro iPhones and I'm returning a perfectly working unit.

Thanks a lot.

I hear it when I have the camera app open and I put the camera bump up to my ear. Like a fuzz kind of noise, weird tho that you noticed this. I would have never checked

No sound here on my 14pm. I’ll check the old lady’s tonight if I ever get out of work.

This iPhone makes noises, it’s normal, download music, charge it and take pictures or record a video at the same time and let me know how you really feel, LOL you can legit hear like a fan sound coming from inside!!

Yes but it's audible in recordings.
Not ideal; didn't notice the buzzing on my regular 13

This has been mentioned in at least one other thread on here.
Both my 14 Pro and the wife's 14 PM camera bump make the "static" sound.
But yeah you have to have it literally right next to your ear to hear it. And on mine, it sometimes takes a second or two to start making the noise.
Have not noticed if it is audible in recordings though as @JippaLippa mentions...
I'll have to check that out...

Barely noticeable; however it still doesn't provide a clean recording.

I remember threads last year about the same issue on the 13 Pro/Pro Max
Maybe it's just a quirk of the recent pros.
That's some useful info; wouldn have been "funny" to send this back, only to receive an other one 2 months later with the same "issue"

Thanks!
These surely make me feel better as it seems normal, allbeight slightly annoying, behaviour.
I'm still using an iPhone X (no noises at all) but I'm pretty sure either the 14 Pro Max or 15 Pro Max will be the phone to replace it. I'm looking forward to better cameras, a larger screen and apparently I'll have to get used to the described noises.🙂

Can confirm my 13 Pro Max does the same thing. Never noticed it until someone pointed it out in another thread the other day. Also don't have any issues with my 13 Pro Max so if my 14 Pro Max does the same thing I won't be too concerned about it honestly.

I noticed the noise using the magnifier app set to the maximum.
it sounded like my Phone had a fan running.
