I had a weird Extend desktop bug in airplay mirroring in dp5 which I don't know how to reproduce, so have not yet sent a bug report. It was on mavericks DP5 on a 2011 11" mba.

After starting up and connecting wirelessly to my apple tv 3, extend desktop was ticked already. But I didn't tick it.

Second desktop was not showing up in second monitor, i.e., it was saying extend desktop was on, but it wasn't. My workaround was to "tick" extend desktop (even though it was already ticked). That seemed to fix it because then my second desktop was showing up on my second monitor. I was able to enable and disable extend desktop after that in the normal fashion.

Has anyone else had the extend desktop ticked when in fact it was off?

I don't know what caused this, so have not been able to reproduce it (not that I would really want to - but it would be good to know so that I can send a better bug report.)

I suspect that this dp5 bug is somehow related the the airplay disaster in dp6. Many people are reporting that they just get a black screen on the second monitor in dp6.

When you start the airplay mirroring in dp6 it insists that you are in extend desktop mode when in fact you are not. And my workaround for dp5 does not work in dp6.

Another thing I have noticed is that although you can actually do airplay mirroring in dp6 via airparrot, airparrot's own extend desktop feature is NOT working.

Every time I try to make some sense of what is going on, I just get more confused.

Maybe I should just go back to dp4 and not update at all until the gm is released.
