    See attached photo...

Any idea what these folders are for?
Can I delete them without causing a problem?

    Thanks.

What files are in those folders? I think they are just some temp folders. I think you can delete them.

Most of the files end with .dll and .dll.mui. Okay to delete?

What would cause these folders to show up in the first place?

    Thanks for the help.

Do you know what the files are from, what made them show up, and if it is okay to delete them?

The yahoo link doesn't explain any of that and seems more directed to windows than OSX.

I did not know if you used Amiga. Other than google searches I can't advise.
If you're extra cautious back the folders up, delete and see what happens. If something complains or does not work you can always restore them.

Those look like temporary windows install files.

Did you have Office or another microsoft program recently installed ?

They're temporary folders from Windows update. It usually puts them on the hard drive with the greatest amount of free space and temporarily extracts the files to them. It *should* remove them when install is complete.

Weird stuff. Nothing windows related on it at all. I'll back it up and delete the folders.

Thank you all for the help.

I now the OP says no chance of Windows files but it sure looks like Windows "slop" to me. Here is a pic of a Windows HD from work.

Is it maybe from some cross-platform thing like Java?

They're windows install files with the *.mui file being

File Type Multilingual User Interface File

My guess is the OP was messing around with a windows install cd or something and doesn't remember . But in any case they are safe to delete.

Yup--the OP also mentioned .dll files. DLL files are exclusively Windows files, so obviously a Windows install is involved in this story somewhere. In any case, looks like those folders are safe to delete.
