Take your iPhone out in sunshine, and tilt it away from you.. Do you guys see a black lined grid all across the screen? Wth?

I see it too but only when the screen is locked or turned off and if it's really bright out

This is a Touch but the grid can be seen in bright light.

Yes I've noticed that on both of mine. Since it did not seem to create a problem, I dismissed it as a low priority question. It's good to hear you've noticed the same exact thing.

that's the digitizer that reads where your fingers are.

Correct. I've actually taken an iPhone apart before to replace the LCD and when you look at the digitizer piece by itself (it's laminated to the front glass) it looks like a clear piece of glass with faint gridlines on it. Then tiny wires connect to the gridlines at the edges and go to a ribbon cable that connects to the iPhone main board. Very cool actually.

Thanks everyone for your responses.. I was just curious as to what it is.

Conclusion: It's the digitizer that recognises your touch.

Many thanks.
