Okay so I really want to give iCloud Photo Library a chance. I started using it on Thursday and my entire library uploaded through my work connection which has plenty of upstream.

Last night I noticed some behavior that scared me. I imported a few photos from my Canon camera; these photos were JPEG/RAW pairs. I decided I didn't want to import the RAW files (they are 21MB each and will eat my storage); only the JPEGs, so I deleted the photos I had imported, separated the JPEGs on the SD card, and re-imported just them, tweaked them and I thought that was that. The re-imported photos showed up on my phone and everything.

Later that night I was out and about and decided to look at my library on my phone and noticed that the photos I had deleted and re-imported were missing. When I got home, they were missing on Photos.app as well! I opened recently deleted, and sure enough they were there, and I was able to recover them.

This scared me, because what if I hadn't noticed? If the 30 days had gone by, those photos would have been lost. I'm wondering why iCPL would delete photos AGAIN after I re-imported them!

Anyone have an explanation for this behavior? I'd love to hear from people who have more experience with iCPL than me. I'm this close to just shutting it off again, as I don't like anything to be deleted without my confirmation.
