Weird issue with Youtube

So just these past few days whenever I visit Youtube in Safari on my MacBook Air, and when I click on a video, it always shows in the large player, then when I click the smaller player, it stays that way, but when I open safari again it will return to the larger player. It's really annoying… does anyone have advice? Thanks 😉
