Weird Itunes problem

I've got this frusrating problem with my iTunes that makes my computer freeze every time I open it. The weird thing is, after 2 or 3 minutes of being left alone it unfreezes and opens like normal, with the store scrolling its banners and such. But anytime I move the mouse, it freezes for 2 or 3 minutes again. So I just have to force quit every time. I've tried rebooting, installing a new version of iTunes and deleting recently downloaded music, and they all worked the first time i opened itunes, then it reverted back to freezing. What is going on?! Thanks a million if you can help.
