Hey guys,

So i am having some weird problems with a new macbook air, 13"

Basically, it had started responding to any click or tap on the trackpad as a right click, and although the keys appear pressed on the keyboard viewer, they do not fill in any text boxes, such as the bar in chrome or spotlight. Also, the command keys turn the brightness down.

I have tried using activity monitor to close all installed daemons and applications, but it has not helped. I have also tried resetting SMC and PRAM, although nothing happened when i did the SMC reset (i just waited a bit and then pushed power again), and holding the keys for the PRAM reset takes me to OS X Utilities.

EDIT: I cannot go to an apple store for over two weeks (but i have booked an appointment), so obviously any solution that doesnt involve visiting them would be much appreciated.

Any help would be much appreciated, thanks

It sounds like the trackpad is registering a click permanently... Therefore when you try to type in a window the issue is confused by the constant left click.

Have you disabled tap to click? Have you tried a fresh reinstall? Have you tried connecting an external mouse?

I have had the exact same problem start on my MacBook as of last Friday evening. I tried a fresh install yesterday and this still hasn't solved the problem. I have also tried all the solutions suggested by Oli3000 above to no success.

Has anyone else had any success with this problem?
