ok so my original macbook had a battery issue so they replaced it and copied my hard drive over for me, now on this one whenever i power up before i see the grey apple i see a grey folder with a question mark then the apple and everything loads up normally. Is anything wrong and how do i fix it if something is? thanks

Sounds like you might need to reset the startup disk.

Go to System Preferences > Startup Disk and make sure you select your proper startup disk. Should fix it.

Don't beat yourself up - if you hadn't seen it before, how would you know? Glad it worked. 🙂
