So I don't really know where to ask about this or who could help me but I thought I'd try here.

I have a tumblr blog (where I noticed what I presume to be this virus) and I was editing the theme and checking to see if the different pages worked when I noticed a macupdate link had popped up out of nowhere (I didn't put it there) on one of my pages:

I went back to the theme editor to see if the link was there and I could delete it but:

there's nothing there.

Obviously I haven't clicked it so I don't even know what it is but I never put it there and it simply doesn't show up on the editor to delete it. Because of this I'm assuming it may be some malware/virus **** that's in my computer inserting stuff on its own or something? That's what came to mind because I've had malicious background apps in the past that inject sketchy ads into your browser (I got rid of it though) and my only guess is it might be something similar?

Sorry if this seems really stupid but I'm dreading that this might be some background virus thing.

Also in case anyone wants to check if it also pops up on their browser, it's at http://markwatneyisgay.co.vu/movielist , you have to scroll down a bit and if the link is there you should see it pretty quickly since it's in blue.

Umm. Nothing you have mentioned happen on safari for iOS.
Same result for chrome for iOS.
However, chrome for PC has this link appeared at exactly the place you mentioned.
And same thing happens on Internet explorer 11 as well.
Same thing happens on Microsoft edge.
Same thing happens on a PC running internet explorer 11, with Symantec Endpoint Protection installed. But nothing is reported from this site.
So, I would assume this is a promote link inserted by tumblr.

Wow, thanks for checking all of that. I really don't think it's a promote link inserted by tumblr though, because they never insert ads on user blogs (just on the dashboard) and they always use image clickthrough ads, not random links. Hm.

I"m going out on a limb, but my guess is this is probably not a virus.

Well yeah, but it's still weird because I never inserted that, the website itself can't modify your own blog, and it doesn't show up on the editor.

I found it in the HTML which is weird cause it's like the code wrote itself and somehow stays invisible on the regular editor.

(I deleted it)
