Hey all.

I have a weird problem with iPhone 4. Also duplicated this on iPhone 4S.

I have a gmail account with about 25k emails. All was fine, until today, my iPhone has a date range missing. Basically I have a gap in emails between this morning and March 1st, 2011.

What is weird, is that all emails are in my gmail account, still in inbox. Loaded it up on android phone and android tablet, all emails show up. Did a full reset on iPhone, added account, the gap is there again. It's like the emails are hidden or something.

Anyone seen something similar? Any ideas on how to fix it? iPhone is on 5.0.1, android tablet on 4.0.3 (if it matters)

If you're using an exchange account have you tried deleting the mail account and setting up gmail again? I've found this fixes most issues I've had with gmail.

I have never experienced this issue athough I don't have that many emails to relate with.

Not seen such an issue.

Are the mails gathered in a single folder? Is it possible for you to move old mail into a yearly archive folder or the like? You should still be able to reach them, but it may prove easier for your clients to handle, since each folder can be synced individually rather than the entire box at once.

While this may sound overly simplistic, have you performed a reset on your iPhone?

I use Gmail concurrently on my iPhone, Android, & WindowsPhone 7, and had something similar occur when setting up my iP4S. A reset fixed it, much to my surprise.

Good Luck :)

Yep, did a full reset on the phone. Same thing

iphone only shows up to 1000 recent messages. Check under setting --> Mail, Contacts, Calendars then scroll down to "Mail" and select "Show"

If that would be the case, then there should not be a gap. It shows about 50-100 recent messages, then there's 9 month gap, and then messages continue.

I had it set to 1000 message for a while.

OK i didnt know there was a gap i thought from march 2011 til now u werent getting emails. But yea thats weird. It might have to do with the android accounts. Try and unsync ur gmail account from ur android devices and then only sync with the iphone and see what happens.

I had/have the same problem. All of my messages would display fine on my MBP, on my work computer, and on the gmail web page in Safari on my phone. I had a ~2 month gap only in the mail app.

I tried restoring from backup, and that did not work. Deleting the account and re-adding it to my phone didn't work either (set up both as exchange and imap).

The only thing that "fixed" the problem was adding labels to my emails, and making my inbox smaller
