So, my new MBP is making a little, annoying noise. It's coming from the top left side, where the motherboard is located. I can only hear when its really quite. And if I cover the left speaker, I can barely hear anything. Anybody know if this is normal???

Sounds like your fan. You know, that thing in your computer that spins and makes noise...

Oh sarcasm, thanks, that solved the problem.

Yeah, I know what a fan sounds like, and this doesn't sound like a fan spinning.

What did you expect? You didn't exactly give a lot of information. Just saying there's a noise coming from inside your laptop isn't enough to figure out what it is.

What does the noise sound like?

There are only 3 parts that SHOULD be making noise, no? Either the fan, the harddrive, or the optical drive.

Or it could be just your speakers being on. In fact, that's probably what it is.

My bad, didn't mean to snap at u, I'm just annoyed with the noise. My previous MBP 2009 didn't make this noise, and the first 2 MBPs 2011 I got b4 this one didn't either.

I'm going to try to record a video and post it ere. Maybe u guys will be able to help me out, cause I really don't want to take another trip to the Apple store, and have my MBP exchanged for the forth time.

Sounds like the fan to me. I honestly don't think its nothing to worry about. This is actually not as annoying as the sound the hard-drive makes.

I just think u are being a little paranoid.

Maybe I am. But I can live with it. Everything else works great, and this actually runs cooler than the first 2 I got.

If I do decide to take it back, and have them replace the fan, do I have to put the HDD that came with it back, or can I just leave my SSD???

Well, guess I will be making an appointment at the Genius Bar once again. This will be the 4th time that I will be going back. They are probably tired of seeing me. lol. And my "14 days return policy" was up 2 days ago. 🙁
