yes im positive this is a software glitch you can try this yourself.use any headphone and plug it in and the noise is going to the headphone so my theory is just a bug where the haptic vibration together with the noise from the speaker activates at the same time
Ahh ok fair enough! I didn’t even think to try the headphone jack and the sound so I would say you are right! Now just for the issue with the battery draining that bit quicker now days! Hopefully fixed in an update

I have the same issue. Also had it on 11.1.2, but didn’t think much of it since Apple is usually good about fixing issues like this before my 2 year warranty(with AppleCare) is up; if it’s hardware related.

I get the normal haptic tap, but no sound at all. This might be some combination of hardware and software factors for those of you experiencing a sound.

For those of you concerned about switching to 11.2, my battery life is better both on iPhone X and also on Apple Watch Series 3 LTE.

I think I it’s just a bug in the software. The battery since using the 5W charger has held better than what I previously used 12W iPad charger. So I’m going to keep using the “slower” charger for the time being. I was only testing out the 12W to see charging times but battery is holding up better

yes im curious on your analysis,i been using the ipad mini charger(10w) on my 7plus and notice that it significally reduce the battery health and it gets really hot while charging and now on my on my X also.couple youtuber like zollotech said its not really a factor causw he’s been using the 12w charger all the time and did not affect his battery.im thinking apple probably has reasons why they still uses the 5w superslow charger.btw i dont have battery issue on my X and it usually last just as good as my 7 plus.

Yeah my last charge without using the 12W charger seems to have lasted a lot longer than when I use a slower charge! So not sure why or anything but I’ll stick to the 5W for now! No idea why or anything like that though. But generally my battery life has gone back to normal and seems ok again now

Had an issue with my X and had to update to 11.2

I now have the odd "tick" noise when dismissing the control panel or dismissing reachability. I worry that it will eventually harm the iPhone X taptic engine, unless it was intentional and is known to be safe.

However, if I don't swipe up to dismiss the control panel or reachability, and simply tap on the "swipe up bar" it will dismiss these features without any haptic feedback at all.

Has anyone had any luck regarding the clicking or ticking noise when closing control centre with 11.2.1?

Haven't tried 11.2.1, but if it's the same issue with 11.2 that I wrote about above then my solution should also work.

"...don't swipe up to dismiss the control panel or reachability, and simply tap on the "swipe up bar" it will dismiss these features without any haptic feedback at all..." and you shiuldn't get the odd "tick" noise either.

Is the consensus that the "tick" sound is being played over the speaker/headphones or is the haptic engine making the actual sound?

Are you sure this isn’t a feature? It seems to me that this is the way it’s intended to work. Could be wrong.

I can’t replicate it but it seems to happen to me when I’m getting more than one notification or activate the haptics more than one way. For example, long press and receive a text or receive a text and a FB message.

fixed on 11.2.5 released today. You'll get the intended haptic feedback when swiping to dismiss reachability and control centre without the clicking noise.
