Yes, a Griffin case - but of course falling screen down on a cobblestone sidewalk meant the case made no difference. I have to smirk a bit as I was feeling glad I paid it off just this week (through my phone company). Well the worst is I'll have to pay a fee and reinstall my backup (made a full encrypted backup last night) and go through the whole reauthorising my Whatsapp and Telegram etc. A lesson not to automatically pull out my phone every time I'm waiting and especially in cold weather with a long sleeved jacket. :p
I feel like you're not blowing this out of proportion nearly enough!:p

A sensible, sane and proportionate response.......

to the OP, you are certainly not alone!

I'm like that with my phone and laptops.
I've never gotten the chance to appreciate the beauty of an iPhone since my first one bc I immediately get a case for it.

Just the same with my laptops. I just responded to another post about having just replaced a late 2008 model unibody. Physically, its in PRISTINE condition bc I immediately employed a complete skin for it from a company called Zagg. It was a top pc/bottom pc, and the inside around the keys and the palm rests.
Over the last 10 years, the palm rest skin is very slightly worn, but everything else is perfect on it! lol

I just ordered a similar product and a new sleeve for my new MacBook and it will be on house arrest until both items arrive and (in the case of the skin) are successfully installed! lol

I'm a bit OCD that way. You know what, its not OCD, I just like and enjoy keeping my [crap] nice!

Well prudence pays off I always say - I can understand keeping things clean and scratch free but as my experience above shows surprises can happen. Since my phone is a tool for work as well as for entertainment I am glad I got Applecare + as it covered the screen replacement for a nominal fee and given I have a 7 plus I know the Touch ID, 3D, speaker and water resistance were all guaranteed by Apple.

I also keep my iMac clean - there I am a bit worried about dust and not for superficial reasons as I know it doesn't play nice with electronics and iMacs are a bit difficult to open up and clean. Again, not obsessive just taking care of a tool.
