One of my wireless networks is a linksys and I had a similar problem with my PB. I solved it by updateing the firmware on the router. I've no idea why my airport didn't connect to it becuase my other laptop did but for what ever the reason was it worked after the firmware update.

Good luck

dont be surprised if...

if its a hardware issue...if you can borrow a network card from someone else or use a slot-card and see if it works it could very well determine if its a hardware or a software factor. hope this helps.

I honestly really appreciate you guys trying to help, but when it comes down to it, you guys just aren't reading my posts carefully enough, and what you are suggesting just flat out won't work, because, as I have said numerous times now, the Airport card IS NOT RECOGNIZED by the PowerBook.

I have come to the conclusion that this is indeed a hardware problem. Why it chose to work one second, and then the next I try to hop on the internet not to work, I have no idea.

It can't be a problem with my 3rd party router, because nothing changed with it between the time I was using it at home, went to school, then came back and tried to use it again. Furthermore, nothing changed with my PowerBoook either.

All the other computers work fine (including my iMac, which has all the same updates installed as my PowerBook).

And another thing, Mlobo01, if you would have read my posts, you would have seen that I have stated several times that I have tried more than one Airport card in the slot.

I will update you guys if I do decide to get it fixed, but I will most likey sell the damn thing.

My last try!

What we have heahhhh is another failure to communicate!

Answer yes or no: Did you click on that Apple Support link I posted regarding FIRMWARE update Airport Express wireless? If not, read it!!!!!

One of the other posters had a similar problem with your same Router hardware:(

Regardless whether the other computers are functional, download that update v6.3! When the firmware updates were first posted, I did the Extreme version and I had NOTHING wrong with my network, etc...

Gads, don't be a hardhead ... try it, you'll like it;)

Hint!

We all are aware that your Airport card is NOT recognized by the PB, however, sometimes when you update one thing some other quirk in the computer gets fixed!

That is a mystery way beyond me.

That's why we suggest the FIRMWARE update .... it will not make anything worse and it could correct the problem.

Ok, I have downloaded the updater, but I don't see anything in the window to update? Nothing shows up, and there is an option of "Other" and if you click on it you are asked to type in an IP address and a password. What IP address is it wanting? That of the router? And if so, how do I find it??

Afterthought

I'm getting forgetful. Since your wireless connection is not working, I assume you have an Ethernet cable to connect directly to the external modem.

Remember to reset the Network Port Configs for Ethernet and back to AirPort, if and when you resolve the issue.

Keep the Faith,

IP Address

Go into System Preferences/Network, click on Network Status, scroll down to AirPort, click, then in the new pane, click TCP/IP tab.

The IP address and other info you might need is there; use your Network password, if you have one. I am not familiar with Lynski routers; perhaps doug.hall (above) could help you in this area.

An Apple ABS would have eliminated most of these restart/setup headaches.
