Weird Preview artifacts (aka messing up symbols) w/ pics

Ok, so here's how it looks when I first get it off the web:

Now here's how it looks when I try to:
a. Save it.
b. Print it.

It prints fine in Adobe Reader.

What's up with Preview?

Specs: Dual CPU G5. 1.5GB RAM. 10.4.3

Well, first bet is to delete the Preview preference file named com.apple.Preview.plist.
