    Hi..
I have a 8mbps broadband plan and I have a PC and a iMAC connected to that line via a router.

On PC, the browsing speed is sizzing fast .. Page loads in like 1-2 seconds for non-cached pages also..

While the iMac is taking like 5-10 seconds to load the same page.

Im using Firefox on both and both are latest versions.

    Dont know, whats happening.

I need the MAC to be faster, since its the main system, where I work.

What can be the issue ?

    Help Help...

Try www.speedtest.net on both the Windows and Mac OS X computer and report the results here.

Can you also provide more specific network settings of the router, the Windows PC and the Mac OS X computer?

A more descriptive and precise thread title will help cater to the right audience and get you more responses. (see rule #3 under Minor Problems)
To edit your thread title, just click on the [IMG] button on the bottom right of your original post and then click the "Go Advanced" button below your message.

Have you also taken a look at MRoogle, since that question may have been asked several times?

    Hmm...

Right click on "my computer" on the pc and go to properties and let us know the specs of the PC involved.

This is a common problem it's most likely one of 2 issues.

    1. You are in an area with lots of Wi-Fi networks and many are competing for the same channel.

To test download and install iStumbler (Google it), look to see what channel you are on and what the other networks are on. Most routers have 11 channels to choose from and most people leave the default channel. If you see you are competing for a channel then locate the utility for your router and change the channel. If you use an Airport Extreme or Airport Express this is very simply done by running Airport Utility.

    2. Your DNS settings are the default settings, these are the settings used by your ISP. Here is an excellent article from Macworld that explains.

    http://www.macworld.com/article/146064/2010/02/troubleshootdns.html?t=234

Here are instructions on how to change the DNS settings on your iMac.

    1. System preferences
    2. Network
    3. Click Advanced
    4. Click DNS tab
    5. Click + sign
    6. Add 208.67.222.222
    7. Click + sign
    8. Add 208.67.220.220
    9. Click OK.
    10. Exit System Preferences
    11. Try out your iMac and report what happened.

    Regards,

    Roger

Just added those to the iMac .

And someone had suggested me to add Google servers,
    8.8.4.4
    8.8.8.8

SO, I have those 2 in my modem.

And I dont have wifi on..

Now let me restart and try..
