Weird Problem with Iphone Xs and Youtube App

I just recently noticed this and it is kinda weird.
When I used the YT app from time to time the screen brings up the controls menu all by itself (pause, reverse and skip).
Just as if I have just tapped or touched the screen, I am noticing this more and more anyone else has experienced this?

The phone is either on an Anker Wireless Stand or just laying in its apple leather folio case, nothing should be touching the screen.

I do have a Spigien Tempered glass protector on, but I have used screen protectors on all my previous phone and this never happens.

Thoughts?

It’s happened to me a few times. I’m always holding the phone so I thought I was accidentally touching the screen, but every time it happens, I’m 99.9% sure I didn’t touch it. Now that I see your post, I can see I’m not the only one.

Yup it is very weird...
I thought I was touching my phone too but it is happening to me with the phone on my desk or on a stand.

Do you use a screen protector?
 
This is happening to me too and it’s really annoying. Does anyone have any idea what it is? It happens every time I’m watching a video. Using an IPhone XS Max.

This also happened to me. I deleted the youtube app and reinstalled it and havent had the problem since then.
 
I solved my issue!
Mine was due to my screen protector. I installed the original screen immediately after peeling off the apple proctective wrap. Maybe they was some residue or something. Now not only my YT doesn’t act up but the screen is more responsive and less typo! All I did was take off the old screen glass, wipe the phone real good watch out for particles and put a new glass protector on!

Don’t think that solved the problem.. I don’t use a screen protector and I use a Totallee case and still have this issue with YouTube. There was an update for the YouTube app today, but I’ve only watched a couple videos since updating and haven’t had the issue so far. I’ll report back after watching more videos.

Edit: Still having this issue.

Same here on iPhone Xs max. I do have a screen protector but I don’t think it’s the cause. The issue is not reproducible. It happens randomly.
 
I'm actually having the problem on my iPad Pro. I uninstalled and reinstalled and it hasn't done it again (yet).
