My series 4 watch is set up so that I need to touch the face for it to come on, not simply raise it up. However, at night, it seems to come on when it comes in contact with blankets/sheets/pillows in bed. I have woken up and seen the watch face glowing when I have not touched it (being either under the covers or under a pillow.

Is this normal? I had a Series 3 watch and don't recall it exhibiting this behavior - I had to either touch it or roll the crown to see the time, etc.

Depending on the type of fabrics you have, it could be. I know that some of my long-sleeve shirts activate the screen and even act as swipes and activate buttons, although it's fairly inconsistent and rare.

But the Series 4 does seem to be a bit more sensitive than earlier models... I know that I never had issues with my Series 1, but for a time my Series 4 would lock itself over night, claiming that it had been placed onto the charger for brief periods during the night (despite being on my wrist the entire time). I'm guessing there was some static from some of my blankets... maybe. The issue cleared up without any obvious change that I made, so I can't investigate it further.

I don’t know if it’s a bug but lately my series 3 would display the night mode screen whilst on the charging stand at night. Randomly throughout the night it would turn itself on. I didn’t really mind.

I only bought my series 4 yesterday so I can’t say if it will do the same thing.

That's nightstand mode,
when on the charger, it will light up with very slight movement, I can make mine do it by tapping the nightstand with one finger

But I wasn’t touching it. I was lying in bed and randomly it would be on during the night.

...you don't need to touch it!

My S4 watch is on my nightstand on my bedside table next to my bed. Even walking around the bedroom will activate it as the watch is picking up the vibrations of the footsteps through the floor so its more than likely, whilst you're in bed, your movements are setting off the watch...

They must be it. My watch stand is on a bedside cabinet.
