Quick weird question: I’ve been using iPads since right after they were released. I think I still have one of the very first iPad Pros. I’ve never had this issue before. When I power on my iPad and I login it’s 45 seconds to a minute before I can do anything. That’s AFTER I login. Also websites that used to take one second or two seconds to load take 5 to 10 seconds now. Any idea how I can find out what’s running in the background? We used to be able to see ALL running processes but that option was removed years ago so we can’t really see all that’s running anymore. Thanks in advance. UPDATE: Solved.

In order of likelihood:

  1. Check free storage; make sure it's at least 5% of total.
  2. Check battery condition - may require a call/chat to Apple for diagnostic on that; I think it was only added to Settings on more recent models.
  3. Try Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings (exact menu location depends on version, but that should get you there). Doesn't delete data but does reset basic stuff to defaults e.g. Home Screen layout & background.

I still have the original iPad Pro. It’s often sluggish when I turn it on, but if I later lock the screen and come back the performance is fine. So I just assumed it was busy updating mail, texts and photos when I boot up.

Good point! I set all apps/etc.. to update manually for that reason, so I don’t have to wait every time, and then I update when I can just kick it off and walk away for a bit. It may have been reset back to the defaults. AND yes, that was it. I would have thought of that but I’m suffering from a severe medical condition….severe lackacaffeine. My doc won’t give me a prescription for a coffee IV. Weird! Srsly, thanks for the tip.

I really did lol at the lock of caffeine. Hope you’re all better now. 🤭
