I have the same laptop and the same issue. Apple sent me a replacement laptop, and again, the same issue!

I've tested on a 4k monitor and a 1080p monitor, both with HDMI cables. I'm going to the Genius Bar next week to see if they can sort it out.

If anyone has any updates, that would be great!

You have 3 options:

1. Turn off hardware acceleration on your browser

or

2. Choose aRGB IEC61966-2.1 profile from the MacBook on the effected monitor, you can leave hardware acceleration on

or

3. Buy a new monitor that supports thunderbolt or USC-B display input

I can confirm the above as I have done all 3 myself.

Mine does this when using the TV app with DRM protected video. What the heck is causing this? I have i3 version and am fed up with this issue.

Update: nevermind, it's due to night shift (weirdly enough I don't think I turned it own). It turns out "Manual:" needs to be unchecked. This solves my issue. (I now use f.lux for night color)

Same issue here.

Description: newly bought 2020 Macbook Air 13" (basic specs) less than a week. Tried connecting my LG and HP 22er external monitor via QGeeM and Keychron USB-C hubs, watching full-screen youtube videos (only some videos, i guess it's due to different encoding) with both Safari and Chrome. The external monitor turned greenish tint as long as all the control UI is gone after a few seconds in full-screen mode.

Tried all the method you guys said above, no luck.

Btw, the "aRGB IEC61966-2.1" doesn't exist in my display settings, I have a "sRGB IEC61966-2.1" instead.

I have had the same issue. I bought the official apple USB-C multiport adapter thinking my cheaper one might have been the issue, didn't help. I tried changing to generic RGB and other colour profiles as suggested in this string, but nothing worked. What has 'somewhat' worked is unclicking 'true tone' on the colour profile (regardless of what colour profile you are in). This takes away MOST of the green tint - now the only difference between the colours (noticeable when the curser is moved) is that the colour seems a little warmer - definitely fine to watch however and a massive improvement on the green giant tint! All that said, given how much i shelled out for a new macbook air and given how many of us are working from home these days hooking up to second monitors, it's a little much that the colour is an issue and that Apple don't seem to be addressing it.

Like maireilis above the solutions listed here don't work reliably. I had one day where changing the color profile worked, but it was back to its old tricks the next day. I also shelled out for the official apple adaptor with no benefit.

To specify the problem is slightly different for me than described by others. Instead of a green tint, I have a green frame around the video, with a warmer kind of vintage tone to the image itself. I might be able to handle watching video like this if it didn't keep jumping back and forth between the two which is distracting. It only happens when I use the HDMI to my projector. When I play video on my thunderbolt connected Dell external monitor I have no problem.

But in any case, neither the night tone button, the color profile suggestions, and the hardware accelerator buttons had any lasting effect for me.

Very frustrating - I have issues connecting to my external hard drive as well as data won't pass through most adaptors, so you can't chain together and I quickly run out of things I can plug in. I hate that there is no magsafe power adaptor anymore too. Apple really messed this up -I've been apple loyal for 25 years and this is starting to make me doubt.

I'm running two 1080p displays from a 2020 13" MBP. One is USB-C to Displayport. This one has never had the green screen issue. My second display is HDMI to HDMI, through an Anker 7in1 adapter. Fullscreen Youtube - The green screen issue appears multiple times a day for me, only on the monitor through HDMI. Someone on another thread suggested the temporary fix of going into syspref > accessability > display > cursor, and adjusting the cursor size. This works, but only temporarily. Could be a few minutes till the green returns, could be a few hours.

Hi guys. Randomly discovered this thread while looking for another issue.

This bug is an old one, yet not widely (or correctly) documented. The only solution (kind of) to that problem is really the one posted above:

Going into syspref > accessability > display > cursor, and adjusting the cursor size.

This will work as long as the macbook is not "reset" in any way. Restart or sleep/wake cycle etc.

Update: issue fixed in Big Sur! Big Sur did initially have the computer running really hot and loud plugged into my tv but 11.1 fixed that issue and computer doesn’t get very warm now and fans rarely kick on.

I have an issue with an M1 Air where I leave HDMI cable plugged into the official Apple adapter. At some point after not using it for awhile, I come back and now my external monitor is heavily tinted yellow. Unplugged the HDMI cable and reconnecting will fix it but is there a fix to this?

Your comment pissed me off lol. You jinxed me. I replaced my i5 with an m1 and then tonight this happened.
