I was thinking about getting a new MacBook Neo, once I read several reviews and comments, been a "lurker" for quite some time now and finally registered. Well recently replaced all the antique windows in my house and having to move most of the furniture out of the way, started to go thru some of the cabinets... found I had 4 sets of sterling silver silverware. Certantly do not need 4 sets, especially since my boyfriend and I usually always go out to eat. Took 3 sets to my local pawnshop and sold them, and was looking at the laptops he had for sale. He had this like new rose gold MacBook Air m1 for $175.00. Although it only has 8g of ram.... it will be sufficient for what I do with a laptop. So had to buy it. WOW is all I can say about the m series chips, I thought my 2019 MacBook Pro i5 was lightning, this is like triple lightning, and that is an understatement.

My boyfriend will be getting a surprise when he gets home from work here in about 20 minutes, he will get my 2019 MacBook Pro which will make his day since he had issues with his Asus win 11 laptop all day at work.

Just upgraded to macOS 26.3.1, and although only been using it now for about 30 minutes, have to say it looks to be a nice version, don't see anything too annoying, course I have always been one to upgrade to the newest by a xx.2 release so a little late on this one. So far I am quite impressed with Apple Silicon.

That was a great looking Mac! Welcome to Apple Silicon and plese, fasten your seatbelts. M1 is a beast! 🙂
It sure continues to blow my mind how fast it is even with only 8gb of ram, my 2019 MacBook Pro i5 had 16 and although it seemed fast.... this m1 air runs circles around it, and so far I really like macOS 26 Tahoe. Used it all day for work and browsing different forums, and still have 0 swap used and memory pressure is green. I do not see these becoming unsupported for quite a while which is a good thing. I see we have a Tahoe update to do, 26.4.

Hard to argue with an M1 air for less than $200! That's a great deal. Congrats on the switch over to the M series family, the speed is addicting sometimes when using it with just how stupid fast they are. I just recently upgraded from an m2 to an M5 and these are just stupid fast lol

You should check the Battery Capacity and cycle count. I think the M1 Airs were selling in Best Buy and other places until quite recently, so it could be any age between now and 2020. Apple's replacement fee is pretty reasonably, given that it will give your laptop another 3 years or more.

Yup, coming from intel, M series is a massive leap in responsiveness.

If you think M1 is fast though... it keeps accelerating from there. 🙂

Intel to M1 is the big jump, but the M1 to M4/M5 jump is almost as large (actually, Geekbench single thread, it probably is just as large as the intel to m1 jump)

They really are stupid fast. Barely type in a web site and it is instantly there, Have not played with anything besides a m1 but cannot imagine anything even faster. might have to go and play with one of the latest models at the Apple Store, however won't be buying any as this one is more than powerful enough for what I need, especially being happy with my 2019 MacBook Pro, and only reason I got this one was an interest in Apple Silicon and Tahoe. That being said I am extremely impressed with both.

I went from a 2012 11” MacBook Air to an M3 Pro. That wasn’t an upgrade, there is no comparison between a 2012 dual core Intel i7 and an 11 core M3 Pro. One efficiency core alone would be faster than that i7!

It’s pretty cool, isn’t it, jumping up in performance so much.

Battery info:
Cycle count 262
Condition normal
Max Capacity 86%
That's not dissimilar to my own M1 MBP, 2021. It still last a good amount of time, and copes with high-CPU tasks. Apple considers the battery in need of replacement at 80% capacity; it'll probably reach that in a year or two.

It really is. I don't see the need anytime soon to even consider a different laptop. I was considering the Neo, just because I cannot see spending what I spend on my storm interception vehicles which is about $2500 on a laptop, however the lack of the backlit keyboard was what caused the delay in instantly ordering one when it was released.

For $175, it was a no brainer to go for that over a Neo anyways.

That is true, even though it is the base model 8gb ram and 256 ssd. It has the cool rose gold color, back lit keyboard and the m series chipset.

I really like my Air M1 but man, I would love to have one of those 2019 16" Macbook Pros.

Welcome to the Apple Silicon wagon! Air M1 is just a beautiful machine and for that price is a insanely good deal.

I suppose you said that because you hadn’t have one. Ahaha

Never had a Mac with much issues. Mine was an i9 that never went to full power because it gots too hot first.
At that time I used to hook a couple of external SSDs and an external monitor. The simultaneous use of four ports lead the controllers to overheat. The Mac couldn’t control their temperatures as the controllers on both sides wasn’t connect to the heat sinks.

That was a nightmare.

Ok, it doesn't sounds like a good machine haha. So sad. I was thinking about buying one of those or an Air M1. Ended buying the M1 with 16GB and 512GB. Really love this Air but man, the game support is just terrible

Only having my m1 MacBook Air since Monday afternoon, I have to say that Apple Silicon is where it's at. None of my intel MacBooks or iMac can compete with this m1 MacBook Air.
