okay kids, don't follow furryrabidbunny's example and use protection. Knew the girl for only a few hours and did the stupid thing of not using a condom. Anyone else on MacRumors dumb like me?

oh and yes... im as stooopid as you
very stupid. I'm not too worried... but i'll probably do the responsible thing and get a test (once I have health insurance again). I messed up this thread... i thought it wasn't submitted... I was goign to add a poll lol.

It's certainly one lesson you learn from very, very quickly. An ex-gf of mine and I had the awful experience for a while of waiting for results from a condom breakage - absolutely god-awful experience, very lucky nothing came of it though, wasn't really likely due to when the franger ripped (torpedo was in the tube but not ready to launch...) but there's always a risk.

I'm guessing you'll never, ever do that again eh?

No point getting a test for a few weeks - up to three months anyway - because some infections will not show up until then. Coming from the UK... seems crazy that you need health insurance to ge STI tests. How is that going to encourage anyone?

Yeah I thought that was a bit crazy too. Mind you, we all have public health insurance here that covers that sort of thing - transfers to the UK too, it's a big reason why so many of us go there as insurance doesn't cost us much at all. Doesn't apply for all Commonwealth countries though, we have to get insurance for Canada etc.

Well... there are places that offer free tests... they just aren't open long enough... i also haven't really looked into it too. Thanks for that three months thing... thats when i'll have health insurance anyway.

Similar thing has happened to me (split condom), everything was OK but the waiting is a bitch. At least I know I am STI free now though.

Also, some of the tests can be... uncomfortable. Being probed is no fun.

Thats precisely why 1/5 of the population in the country I live (South Africa) has AIDS. They get educated in schools about all the dangers etc, but end up doing it anyway becuase THEY ARE SO STUPID.

Give the guy a break! He's a furry rabid bunny - it's natural for them wanting to breed like crazy. They're also immune to HIV as they're the wrong mammal......

very stupid thing to do. if something does go wrong then you'll be another statistic.

hate to be harsh. but you had so many options here and you messed them all up

Make sure you don't spread collateral damage by ensuring you wear one if you sleep with anyone else before being tested.

I'd be more worried since you were both equally stupid. If this girl is dumb enough to sleep with guys without a condom after only knowing them for a matter of hours (and you have no idea of how often this occurs), then there's a reasonable chance that you might end up with something. They reckon that 10-15% of those under 25 (in the UK) have chlamydia or some other STI. Let's hope she's only been sleeping with the other 85%.

Blast! Beaten to the immunity joke! ugh

But seriously, what is there to worry about? It's not like you could get sick or anything. Studies have shown that there are no long-term ill-effects of not using protection w/ random skanky people. It's all perfectly safe, go out and find another one. I practically schedule my classes around this activity....ummm must go... ~i don't think it's supposed to have red spots, wtf?~

I'm glad you posted, he was having great difficulty figuring out where he went wrong....

And maybe lighten up, he's already had these thoughts, and that's clear in the original post. He didn't commit any crimes, and he wasn't asking forgiveness. So I think that if you, "hate to be harsh" you should have saved it for a more opportune moment.

I'm sorry. This is an internet forum, I posted my opinion on the article. You must be new to the internet, therefore - welcome!

Dude, I wouldn't worry so much if I were you. Chances are that nothing will happen. If you went down no here and didn't notice any outbreaks, that's a good sign. And does she seem like a trustworthy girl? The kind that would tell you if she had an STI? I met Nina Hartley, an ex-porn star, once and she said she's slept with over 1000 men and didn't always use a condom. She took a good look at their package and if it was clean, that was good enough for her. And she has no STIs. It's very hard to get an STI without the presence of an outbreak. It's more difficult for you to tell on a female but, still, don't feel like it's the end of the world. Worse scenario being you got an STI and you have to keep it under control like cold sores on your mouth now.

Before jumping down the guy's throat - does anyone know the odds of contacting a STI from just one incident of unprotected sex? I'd imagine the odds are very, very small.

I'm not sure I've ever seen such a stunningly incorrect set of claims in a post outside of the OS/hardware forums.

It's like claiming a PC can't catch a virus if you only connect to the Internet with a clean-looking ethernet cable.

If the partner has no STI, then the odds are 0%. If they do have one - or more - the odds go up appreciably. Transmission rates of some sexually transmitted diseases approach 100% during unprotected sex, although, typically, they're much lower. So, if you multiply the odds that she had a disease (one or more) times the transmission rate(s) for those disease(s), you're probably not going to catch something with one encounter. Of course, the consequences of doing so make almost any risk pretty extreme. Add to that the fact that you don't really know that she was on birth control.

You could be "dead man walking" you idiot. Quit thinking with your cock and use your brain. There are those among us who will pray for you, but it won't help.
Harsh, but lesson learned?

So, one orgasm you could have done with your hand is, what, trying to find respite in stats? Foolish.
