iOS 5.1 Adds '4G' Indicator to iPhone 4S Status Bar for AT&T HSPA+ Coverage
My link was directly from Apple. So who's right or wrong? AT&T or the company who made the phone?

My city and the city I'm transferring to after I'm done with community college here doesn't have AT&T LTE. It has... "4G" but not LTE... Sigh. Dang it.
Apple doesn't indicate the 4S has HSPA+. Only the iphone 5.

Obviously. He was saying HSPA+ is quick but it's really not when compared to what the phone can actually do on LTE.

Yeah the iPhone 4S can do HSPA+ 14.4, whereas the iPhone 5 has HSPA+ 21 and 42 (although AT&T only does 21). So "technically" an iPhone 5 vs a 4S on AT&T 4G....the iPhone 5 should be faster. Not to mention the speed of the phone itself which blows the 4S away....that helps render pages quicker.
10MB 4G is a hell of a lot quicker than Verizon's pathetic 3G. Hell, AT&T's 3G is still faster than Verizon 3G.
No doubt LTE is going to blow away any 3/4G....it's like going from DSL to 50Mbit cable.

And BTW.....don't let that stop you. The iPhone 5 is killer....I got it and don't have LTE in my AT&T area yet.
