Well here's a clue - all was fine until I went to zap the PRAM - that's the first "partial" chime I got.

Then I went to boot into safe mode and got a millisecond of a chime.

And the Apple Store is not going to like me, because I can't be without this thing for a week...

I hope not.

It is sounding more and more like the logic board - I mean it is running fine when it is up, but not being able to boot in single user/safe/boot to CD/target disc just isn't right. I might as well get it over with and send it in.

Maybe if I am lucky it will be a hopeless case and I'll get a Quad.

Well check this out.

I verified the disc and it is OK.

I repaired permissions - great.

Did all the weekly, monthly, daily and prebinding scripts - OK.

Shut down, restarted, it allowed me to zap the PRAM and all seems OK (my video card even shut up).

So I cancelled my Genius appointment and hope for the best.

I agree - and I changed my backup script to daily.

I couldn't very well take it in if it wasn't doing what it was...

So I wait for it to break....again.

Whilst you can still type, care to tell me what script you use to back stuff up Can i do it with Automator? Basically i want to copy all files from a specific folder instead of mirroring.

I use Dantz Retrospect. I'll have to take a look for the Applescript...
