Wells Fargo, one of Apple's early Apple Pay partners, has been heavily promoting the service, perhaps more than any other participating bank. In addition to sending out numerous Apple Pay emails to customers, launching promotions, and advertising Apple Pay on its website, Wells Fargo has also launched a new television commercial highlighting Apple Pay's speed and ease of use.

In the ad, first shared by iSpot.tv, a man visits several different retail stores and uses Apple Pay to make his purchases at each location. With just a thumb on the Touch ID button, he breezes through each transaction, letting him return home in record time. Upon entering his house, he finds out he's interrupted his own surprise party.

"You were supposed to be out shopping," says his wife after he interrupts the surprise party. "It went super quick," he responds, before a voice over goes on to tout Apple Pay. "With Apple Pay, using your Wells Fargo card just got easier. Done."

Wells Fargo and other banks have been highly supportive of Apple Pay due to the inherent security of the system, which offers many improvements over traditional credit and debit card payments. In addition to utilizing tokenization to keep credit card numbers secure, payments are authenticated via Touch ID, reducing the potential for fraudulent transactions that banks traditionally assume responsibility for.

Anyone else think that Wells Fargo is getting paid?

(I mean, its cool and all. My parents have that bank)

any bets on when the first CVS commercial touting apple pay is released?

Apple Pay is the only one of Apple's recent releases that works 100% as advertised for me. I literally took a pic of my card & it input my info. And every place that as active contactless payment, it has worked perfectly. Ironically, I was all against the digital wallet movement before.

Good thing Wells Fargo is raising awareness as my some of my friends/family still don't know about Apple Pay or if they do, they do not know the benefits.

Since my bank added Apple pay about a month ago I haven't been able to use it anywhere. I always ask and they either look at me like I'm crazy or say no. They still need to get some more retailers on board, however, we're still early in the game.

You don't have to ask them if they take Apple Pay. Just look to see if they take contactless* payments. If you don't see a NFC POS terminal then they don't take it. I've been able to use mine quite often.

Apple Pay means less fraud costs for them so yeah they're definitely getting paid that way. Fraud expenses and preventation is one of the biggest costs of offering a credit card. So banks love the extra security that comes with Apple Pay and Touch ID and would much prefer you use Apple Pay than the crappy (security wise) swipe and signature cards we usually use in the U.S.

I have Wells Fargo and I tried to use Apple pay just now for lunch at Subway. It worked but the transaction didn't go through. Had used my debit card. I've used Apple Pay at McDonalds and Chevron (hell even a liquor store) with my WF being my default Apple Pay card but didn't work at Subway. Anybody else have problems using Apple Pay at Subway?

I heard that some retailers don't have that NFC logo and it still works. So even if it doesn't display the logo, maybe it's worthwhile to ask.

Ok..... How is it other companies are making better commercials about an Apple product than Apple itself???

Correction, Contactless not contact. Much props to Wells Fargo and Apple needs to promote it as well along with the other banks.

Terminals can be iffy. Some terminal with the Pay Wave symbol (Wireless turned sideways) are either turned off or not working. You have to go with the Vendors in store support. I would rank acceptance and awareness as Whole Foods, Walgreens, McDonalds, Panera, Staples, Petco, Petsmart, Office Depot, Sports Authority for ones I have tried.

The support for Apps is great Drync, Target, Gyft (For buying E Gift Cards that also work at Merchants who don't support Apple Pay), Sephora, Spring, Houzz, Panera, Staples are also good places to try. Some of them offer in store pickup as well.

I've heard unbelievable numbers about how many CC transactions are fraudulent. In fact, that's usually what sinks most online payment systems. One of the things that allowed PayPal to survive was they figured out a bunch of anti-fraud things more quickly than the "other" technologies - technologies that went out of business due to fraud.

Apple pay solves a problem, but it begs the question: can you dispute an ApplePay transaction? I'd argue the answer is "no." Just as you can't dispute a purchase made by an authorized credit card user, you can't dispute an ApplePay transaction because it can't happen unless you're an authorized user.

It would be good to know for sure, though.

No one, outside of techies, are talking about Apple pay. Literally, I haven't heard a single person at work, neighbors, friends or family mention it at all.

Exactly. Don't ask because most cashiers don't even know about it. Just look for NFC Pos terminal symbol

Just last week I was able to use Apple Pay at a liquor store. I notice the POS terminal had NFC symbol so I tried and it worked (however, I did have to enter my PIN)

this. I used Apple Pay at Home Depot even though their POS doesn't show that symbol/logo. The clerk was shocked that I just paid with my phone :)
