I looked at the MBA 11", very cool but too small for me. I ended up liking both the MBA 13" and the high res version of the MBP 15"

I still think I would tend to use the MBA more on my lap, as my old MPB got hot in extended use (on the lap and on the wrists).

I would tend to agree with you, the 11" is a bit small. I think that the 13" MacBook Air is the best mix of screen size and portability. It's not quite as light and small as the 11", but still sufficiently light and portable.

I was actually surprised and disappointed at how large the 11" was, I was expecting something along the lines of a netbook. Not so sure about selling my ipad for one now.

The 13" is best for what I need. 11" is a liiiiittle too small.

I love the Air but am suffering a bit of sticker shock. I priced one and it was over $1800 for the top end 13. A similarly speced (not the same, I know) MBP 13 can be had for $1000 refurb. This is with a slow HD not ssd.

Just FYI, my late 2009 MBP does not get very hot with use on my lap (just slightly warm, but by no means uncomfortable). Heat management has improved significantly with every release.

I'm still on the fence regarding which size Air I prefer.......

Wow that is an amazing price for the refurb because a similar speced MBP is $2,000 so that is 50% off

Yeah, the 11 was far too small for me as well. And yeah, every single MBP I've used all the way up through this year gets incredibly hot on the bottom, making it impossible to use in my lap. While watching an HD movie on my 13 inch Air last night, it got mildly warm. Huge difference.

The MacBook Air is mainly aimed at being as portable as possible, so you'll have to make some compromises. The 13" MacBook Pro on the other hand is meant to be a bit more powerful, but also a bit less portable.
