Been getting an "update error" almost every time I start up. It says: "An error occurred while trying to load Perian's version info. Please try again later."

What does this mean?

Does it affect my machine?

How can I fix it?

I have a MBP 2.2 running 10.4.11

thanks kids

try uninstalling and then a install. perian is relatively easy to uninstall. remove:

Code:
/Library/QuickTime/Perian.component
/Library/QuickTime/AC3MovieImport.component
/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/A52Codec.component
/Library/PreferencePanes/Perian.prefPane
~/Library/Preferences/com.cod3r.a52codec.plist

sorry if this is a dead and gone thread, but it is relative to my interests.

i am also getting this Perian error messege, but of all the code above, i only am seeing the Audio/Plug-Ins....

and i also only started seeing this after i ran Migration Assistant.

help?
