5am allows the rest of the US (and the world) to order it at more convenient times. People on the east coast had to get up at 3am to order before they changed it. It's much more convenient for literally everyone else in the world and less convenient for west coasters and people in Hawaii.

Just east coast people have to get up at 3 am if it started at midnight PST. Europe is 7 or 8 am at midnight PST.
It will inconvenient some areas no matter what.
Apple is located in CA. They might as well do it at 7 pm PST. All of Americans can do it in the evening then.

Lol this phone is about to be back ordered till January or February. Yes it’s just a phone but who wants to wait that long.

Was able to placed my orders (2 iPhone 12) via tmobile app at 4:50am. Now time to go back sleep.
Finally was able to place the order damn lol. The app was messing up, forget the website.
