Has anyone purchased the Scorpio Blue 500 GB HDD with 5400 RPM speeds and noticed the hard drive seems to slow everything down. I know there is more spindles to search thru, but I had a Hitachi 320GB 5400 RPM in there before and it seems as soon as I upgraded to this disk everything runs slower even when it first boots up loading Safari takes 20-30 seconds sometimes.

I am in the process of reverting bc I never liked WD disks, I like Hitachi and Seagate, but this is a personal experience preference to anyone.

My Scorpio Blue is very fast and I have had no problems with it at all

are you running leopard or snow leopard??? I think Leopard had some performance issues with hard drives, but they released an update to fix it.

Perhaps you got a faulty drive or it needs a firmware update or something.

Having the same trouble.

I have the same issue with the WD 500GB 5400 drive. Noticeably slower start up to applications and hangs up some times with video playback. Going to buy a replacement today from another manufacturer.
