iPod touch wet cable plugged in

I plugged in a cable, that has been in water, before i took it. It has been plugged in a ipod touch 4g, who sadly now is hungry for some electricity, and wont charge from different pc's/cables. Tough, it DOES work. But doesn't react to usb. I know, it's shorted somewhere. But i just want some of you to calm me down. Could the water on the cable's contacts have damaged the LOGIC BOARD to death??? Because it's not that bad, if it's only the dock connection area, it is changeable. But i'm really scared, because it's out of warranty, and i don't want to buy a 5g. We went trough all the exams and all the other stuff together, with my poor 4g.

Could it be THAT bad??? Could it be the motherboard???

Why did you plug in a wet/damaged cable into the iPod in the first place? Seems like a bad idea.

Have you tried another cable or is the iPod for sure?

Plugging a damaged cable into your iPod was not a very smart decision.
