Still, at least the council saw sense and waived the fine.
 
And in more whale-related news, the results of the post-mortem are in. Turns out it was a combination of dehydration, muscle damage and kidney failure that did for it.

And to answer a question a little further up the thread, the report says that the whale's skeleton has been given to the Natural History Museum and will be made available for scientific research. Hopefully, what we learn from this whale will come in handy should another find itself in similar straits.

:eek: Whoops that'll teach me to re-read articles! I originally read it a good few days ago when it just came out, then when I saw this thread thought I'd just post the link direct from copying it out my history. Its been updated since and didn't realise so having just re-read it I can see I was a muppet! :rolleyes:

Oh well... Everyone has brain farts once in a while..
