I usually get aroun 20Mbps on 3G. Haven't run speedtest in 4G for some time now, mainly because it uses like 50MB, lol
This is one I took some time ago with my iPhone 5.

This is Vodafone in Barcelona.

How can a Speedtest use 50MB

Anyway, with 3G anything above 2Mbps I consider good - highest I've had is 7Mbps. 4G still isn't reliably available anywhere outside of the major cities in the UK, so haven't bothered trying to upgrade.

The amount of data used for benchmarking scales depending on the speed of the internet connection. Otherwise, it'd be difficult to accurately measure bandwidth for really fast connections.

Personally anything over 2 mb/s and I can't tell much of a difference since the phone isn't downloading massive files.

Same here. My phone, the Nexus 4, supports HSPA rather than LTE, and I don't feel any need to replace. Same way in my home office, where 20/2 is fine even when I'm doing videoconferencing. My provider offers 150/5, but I've never felt any need to upgrade even to 50/5.

There is no one answer. It varies by carrier, country state. City, tower proximate time of day, number of people using the same tower etc
If your getting 10 disown and 5 up. Your streaming etc should work fine
There's a thread in this Forum with pages and pages of people posting their speeds just to give you an idea

Yes, but I was just wondering if it actually used 50MB. That seems quite a lot.

Speedtest is one of the biggest data hog apps you can use. I just ran it on my CDMA 4S and the result was 1.4mbs down. It used 4.5 mb (check at settings > cellular > speedtest). If I had 4G/LTE and got 14mbs it would have used around 40-50 mb (10x).

Ah, OK thanks I didn't know that. Actually thinking about it, 50MB isn't that much if you're on 50Mbps+ speeds.

I guess I'm just used to my 1Mbps :p

HSPA+ speeds on my iPhone 5C in Singapore. I consider such speeds to be above average :) quite surprised actually.

With LTE I get 10-20, usually 13 during the busy times and 17 at night. The one below was the best I've ever tested so far, at least on my phone. I just got it. With 3G on Verizon thanks to EvDO sucking massively in comparison to UMTS with all the fancy HSPA upgrades I'm happy if I get over 1.05! Ping on LTE is almost always under 75, on 3G Ping is usually under 300 usually like 180. Despite having a cell tower about 800 meters away and running 700MHz LTE my old highschool is across the street so things can slow down during the day.

Indeed. In my town I usually get around 2 Mb/s due to congestion. In the countryside I'll easily get over 10, on an iPhone 4S.

The best I'm aware of in NZ is 260 Mb/s on an LTE-A device. Gimme! :p

Wow....260 is absurd!

Just did some more speed tests and got a look in my Field Test menu (dial *3001#12345#*) pretty cool, It basically told me a bunch of network stuff that I didn't understand but what I did understand was my 3G was on 800MHz Cellular and my LTE was on 700MHz with 10MHz bandwidth and both average a signal of of -105...-125 is like almost no signal and yet I'm still able to pull some pretty epic speeds down. Pretty cool stuff....Going to have to check in some other areas but man data goes by so much faster when you have the speed and I have access to WiFi like 80% of the time!
