Well, color calibration as a general rule won't do anything to battery life one way or another, but changing the level of brightness (a component of calibration) certainly will. Turn your brightness to the lowest level you can see, and watch your battery indicator increase in time.I assume you are talking about color calibration by your mention of photo use and using it on both your Mac and PC. From that, there is NO WAY color calibrating your LCD has added any extra battery life. Second, calibration on a MacBook is somewhat pointless anyways - it has a 6-bit glossy TN panel.
