I just received my 13.3" new MBP with the 4 thunderbolt/USB-C ports and much to my surprise, the Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 2 Mini Displayport dongle that I got from Apple does not allow it to connect to my Dell 2715Q monitor. Does anyone know what the correct cable or adapter is to go essentially from the USB-C port on the MBP to a DisplayPort or mini Displayport monitor?

Thanks!

Get a DP-compliant cable, don't cheap out!

http://www.accellcables.com/collections/cables/products/usb-c-to-displayport-cable - no personal affiliation here. I buy mine from B&H or Amazon.

There's two PCs in one of my offices attached to 2-each (2 per PC) P2715Q displays. They work perfectly.

TB2 adapters/cables likely will not work with these displays. TB2 carries DP 1.1a. These displays spec out they require DP 1.2 - it's in the manual. There's some blather about this bit on the interwebs and from me elsewhere in these forums.

Thanks! I got the cable and it works fine.
