    Hi guys & Gals

I'm trying to make a signature for my forum but it doesn't look right & I was wondering what am I doing wrong pic below:

I used Photoshop and it is my first real project I'm trying to do & it looks like crap, is there any other programs or a way to make it smooth?

I also want to make it rotate to others i'm making (So I can have it on multiple forums) & I'd also like to make it have one of thise mirror like affects happening under it like this one I'm currently using [IMG] << Can I do that in Photoshop or any other program you could recommend?

    Any help appreciated.

    Northy

It looks like you don't have anti-aliasing turned on for text in Photoshop - hence the bad case of jaggies you got there...

If you haven't customised your toolbars, you'll find the antialiasing options next to pointsize on the PS text toolbar. There are a range of settings going from 'none' to 'smooth'.

The other point is that you need to make sure you're editing the file at something close to the actual resolution you want - re-sizing text can also cause jaggies under certain circumstances.

I'll have a look at that and come back with a response to wether it was better or still like it is.

On a side note who changed my title?

Edit: I think this looks better:

I made it slightly smaller to stop it screwing up again & I think it worked.

Thanks for the help Tersono & Melissarae

If by "rotate" you mean change from one image to another and back again, you can make an animated gif in Photoshop by using the Animation pallet (Window > Animation), adding a different picture for each frame (and setting delay time) then saving it for the web as an optimized gif file.

Yes, you can do that. The easiest way would be to the image, flip it vertically and use a gradient to make it fade out.

Now that you got your jaggies fixed, you might want to reconsider putting red text on a blue background. It's a bit hard on the eyes.

Maybe you could try using better shades of the colors. Those look like default shades from Windows 3.1 (that's not hyperbole). Try going with a more subdued red or a deeper blue with maybe a little bit of green in it to take the edge off. It will look a lot better that way.
