Definitely HTC despite my last one (I forget the model) falling apart after 2 days lol. (Not to mention it was the 3rd one Amazon tried to deliver and they accused me of stealing it 😂.

Original Nokia would have made awesome android phones I think.

While Microsoft (as per your poll) is not an Android phone, if it ever returned to the market, I would consider buying one. HTC is not exactly dead, as Google acquired roughly half of the 4,000 employees who worked in HTC's design and research teams, along with non-exclusive licenses to smartphone-related intellectual property held by HTC, to use in the development of Google phones.

Also, my first ever smartphone, the LG Optimus V. I rooted, bricked, and somehow brought that phone back from the dead so many times.

I thought I was getting super obscure with Amazon and RAZR and then I do something boneheaded like miss Essential. Doh!

I had a lot of the Verizon Motorola Droids, but somehow missed all the HTC models. I don’t have a lot of nostalgia for them.

I miss LG for their DACs. Don’t know if my ears could ever tell the difference, but it was nice feeling like I was an audiophile.

I miss BlackBerry for its keyboards, but their KeyOne Android phones were not the best keyboards they put out.

I never had a Microsoft Surface Duo, but really wish it had gotten a 3rd version. I think a duo screen phone was a great idea and could have really been a thing with people who didn’t want the fragility and creases of folding phones, but it needed annual revisions to get somewhere competitive and Microsoft just didn’t care.

If I could get any discontinued phone back and updated, it would probably be the ASUS Zenphone 9. Just the perfect size.

Not a discontinued brand, but I also have a lot of nostalgia for my Samsung Galaxy Nexus and its weird curved screen. Don’t want that back in any way though. Just thought it was fun to have something unique.

Good call on Essential. I never got one, but did like the hardware. Personally feel that Nothing (the brand) has filled that gap a little.

Still considering a Nothing, but continuing to test the longevity of a Pixel 8 Pro which still does so well for me! ;)

HTC for me. Probably my favorite Android phone was the M7–longest Android I’ve ever dailied my main number in.

HTC Desire was my first smartphone, then I had an HTC One. They were nice phones at the time.
I had the Nexus One, which - if I recall correctly - was a Desire but without HTC Sense. It's the only Android phone I ever owned, so I guess that makes it my favourite.

I didn't even know Nokia made Android phones (not counting their Linux phones). I thought they were switched straight to Windows Phone from Symbian

Voted for Nokia myself - don’t miss it ‘per se’ as we have it as our work phone but it’s reached the end of life for security patches so expect them to be replaced in the next 12-24 months.

Probably the only phone I’ve ever used and managed to mishandle repeatedly and it’s still aOK.

My favourite Android brand is POCO. I owned an X3 Pro before getting my iPhone, and I loved it. If I had to buy an Android phone now, for me it would be a POCO F Series no doubt.

Definitely HTC. The One M8 is the second best Android phone I've ever owned (after the wonderful Galaxy S8). It remembered that phones should be ergonomic and sit in your hand.

can't say I miss any manufacturer, they generally leave for a reason
Sadly its because they dared to make something that wasn't so iPhone-adjacent. The iPhone, Galaxy and Pixel devices are all on the outside the same dull slab. None of them are particularly daring or ergonomic.

Around 2013-2014, they were making both Android and Windows Phones, but when the Microsoft acquisition was completed, they discontinued their Android lineup. I mostly liked them for the bright colors, but never owned one.

More recently, HMD has partnered on some Nokia-licensed phones, but they are unavailable in the US.

Nokia had briefly used a forked version of Android right before Microsoft took over their phone business. Starting around 2017, Nokia-branded smartphones made by HMD were Android-based. HMD/Nokia were among a few brands that had used the "Android One" program.

I came into this thread ready to vote for LG for the innovation that they tried to bring to this space, but in the end HTC was just way more solid as a manufacturer of Android phones.

The BlackBerry androids were my absolute favorite!

I also had a great experience with my Samsung Tab S3 (hasn't gotten updates in years but the Notes feature has much better search that Apple Notes)

Not android and not even smart as such but my favourite phone from long ago was the Ericsson SH888. It had an IR modem which allowed me to connect my Psion PDA and check emails while out and about. Cool party trick in 1998.

Life was so much simpler in those days.

That reminds me, the HTC One M7 had an IR transmitter to use as a remote for my TV. That was pretty neat too, albeit a niche feature.
