I picked up a 2.4 model about an hour ago

I don't think store employees actually know when they are getting them. I think they just know if they do or don't have them currently. I'm sure it's all related to shipping issues which they have no knowledge of control over.

Raleigh/Durham

The Apple Store at Crabtree Valley Mall in Raleigh has them. They will not have them on display until tomorrow.

The Apple Store at Southpoint Mall in Durham has them, but not sure if they have them on display yet.

So you probably need to ask someone and they will get you one.

I just went there. I saw a girl buying new one. Seemed both $1299 and $1599 are in stock.

I also went to glendale. They also have some but nothing on display.
