DVD +/- R drive

(Can I take this one up to 16 GB Ram and add an SSD / HDD in addition/ replacement to existing one?)

2007/08 Apple MacBook Pro A1278
Core 2 Duo?

What can I upgrade? I have access to bunch old parts.. memory, hdds, ssds.

- I am thinking RAM and SSD?
.. What RAM SODIMM frequency would it accept? Non-Apple RAMs? Max Size? 1/2 slots?
.. Same question for SSD?
