I'm on a 8core 2.8 with a radeon 2600 and i think the vid card is going to completely crap out on me soon.

I'm looking for a reasonably priced video card that is good for video editing and a little bit of gaming. Video editing is highest priority.

    Thanks,

    Ed

    Your options are...

    ATi 3870HD
    NVidia 8800GT
    NVidia GT120
    ATi 4870HD
    NVidia GTX285
    + the Quadros

and this should help you out choosing...

What is it with these ATI 2600? Your probably the 7th including myself that have had problems in the last month or so that I have heard off. And the cards aren't that old.

For a bargain basement card, the NVidia GT120 does not fair too badly in that Barefeats test by all accounts. Not the fastest, but certainly no slouch either it seems. The ATi 4870HD does not seem to be runaway improvement that the stats/graph on the Apple store would suggest.

Maybe they are older than we think: ATarI 2600 ?

anyone have a trusted vendor? macsales and amazon haven't excited me with their selection.

also, what's the deal with sapphire and diamond selling these cards?

    thanks for all the input

    ed

edit: i checked newegg as well

ON the P-Sea maybe. For Mac users it's more like a puddle of stagnant water lol
