I like games, but I really love ones that look real, does anyone know what the most graphically beautiful games are?
Anything that will stress my GPU out a little too :D

I'm interested in FPS, RPGs, RTS etc...

What mac are you using? What video card?

Also depends if you bootcamp. If you do there are TONS.

On the Windows side just a few are:

Crysis 1 and 2
Bioshock (also on mac- little outdated but nice art style)
Call of Juarez bound in blood (decent game but very nice looking)
Dragon Age
Call of Duty Modern Warfare (on Mac but runs better PC side)
Prince of Persia (Cel shaded but beautiful)

Of course it all depends on the settings used....

So if you want to stress the GPU, "Another World" / "Out of this World" doesn't qualify ?

Battlefield 2142 ? but more to do with poor Mac port.

Not tried them, but from reviews, Black and White 2 ? Battlestation Midway ?

I'm on a Mac Pro3,1 (Octo@3.0GHz) GTX 285 1GB GPU, 18GB RAM, Intel X25-M 160GB SSD, I prefer to play on Windows 7, but if it's a Mac only game I am happy to try it.

I've played the demo of Crysis 1, I do like it, I'd say the faces look amazingly real, but the scenery is just OK/Good.
I play the BF2142 demo on Windows 7, I love that game although I wish the graphics were better :)

I'll give Prey a try, I think BioShock might be a little too bloody/horrific for me :p
I like demo's if that isn't clear :D ahahah lol (free works for mee :D):p

I'm thinking of buying BF2142 though, I'll google "Another World".
I'm not sure bout CoD, I played the demo of CoD4, what is the newest version of CoD? is it CoD Modern Warfare 2?

I think I'll google these games in this thread and check em out! they sound good :D

Thanks guys

For the Feral games you mentioned above we have the Feral Demo Server which hosts a demo for pretty every much every Mac game we have made. In terms of beautiful ones which I have worked on I would say BioShock and Black & White 2 are the main two ones as but Battlestations Midway is also pretty especially when flying.

Mac Game Files is also another good place for demos of Mac games from all publishers (not just Feral) might be worth checking out if you want to try out a few games.

Crysis is the most visually sublime game yet, and it's almost 3 years old. It's also quite fun.

Far Cry 2 was a beautiful game, set in the African jungle/savannah. The 'plot' is nothing special, but I really enjoyed it all the same. Maybe I've watched "Born Free" too many times, and this gives me the chance to play in that setting. :p

Yeah, the new one is Modern Warfare 2. Pretty damn good, but doesn't look much better than the fourth. Far Cry 2 also looks pretty amazing, but really, most AAA PC games these days look good. Nothing matches Crysis though.

Wow, on a floppy disk? sorry my Mac doesn't have a floppy drive aha lol :p
I hope Crysis 2 is something amazing, and that my GPU can handle it :D

Sounds good to me :p

I have to give a vote for Myst. When that game came out, no one had seen anything like it. it was truly a work of art.

All the games mentioned look very nice and should run flawlessly on the OPs system, but none of the multi-platform releases are what I'd call taxing on hardware like that. Even my system can handle them pretty well. AFAIK Crysis is still the most technically advanced and demanding PC game. As for upcoming games I think id's Rage may finally surpass it though.

I'd say GTAIV has the most advanced engine, but I haven't looked inside it like I have with UE3 and Cryteks etc. It's just that Crysis looks a lot better.

Sweet guys, I'm currently looking into buying Battlefield 2142 and Heroes of Might and Magic 5, I might wait for Crysis 2 to come out, hopefully my mac will be able to handle it.

incredibly beautiful game

I just finished playing Machinarium, and it is probably the most beautiful game I've ever played - on par with the beauty of Myst. But different, beacause Machinarium is not in 3D, rather, the world you explore is all painted by hand. And the Music! so beautiful as well. there is a free demo at http://machinarium.net/demo/. And the game is only $20. To be honest, after I finished playing, I felt like giving them another $20. this game is so unique and well built, so much love and care went into creating it. so many little details that are surprising. the only small downside is that sometimes you can get stuck, so I used online walk throughs a few times. this game is a hidden treasure. (There are versions for Mac, Windows and Linux, and it runs superb on the Mac)
