I bought a new MG about two and a half years ago and it's already falling apart, despite it having only done around 15,000 miles - quality British engineering! ;)
I blame Lucas

Also, thanks to those who mentioned leather.
Addendum #1: NO LEATHER. Too hot in the summer, too cold in the winter. Cloth, or Alcantara.

Electric windows, a good sound system and enough grunt to reach 100km/h in under seven seconds. I pretty much drive for a living so a comfortable and powerful car is necessary.

Wow, memory seats are considered "must haves"? A sliding partition for the back? iPod connectivity? Sunroof? Sports seats? I can understand AWD or 4WD in some instances, but are all these things "must haves" when buying a car?

And isn't it funny that only WelshAndrew even brought up safety features ("air bags", specifically) in his list?

in order of importance-
Stick Shift
Low maintenance costs/reliable
Gas Mileage
Cornering
Parkable (not a boat)
seats that are comfortable to me
visibility - this varies a lot from car to car... ideally very small/no blind spot, big side views that get you a nice view of the road, etc
Good sound system (this is not so important because this kind of thing is easy to upgrade if I choose to).

it is intersting.

It does show an intersting taste of these forums and shows that a lot of people are spoiled and rich and forgot what it like not to have money (yes they earned their way there but it does not change the fact a lot of the forgot what it like not to have money).

As for safety features side air back and ABS air among the only ones I know of that are not standard on all most all cars.

For me as much as I would like a sun roof it takes up to much head room.

I can also understand the power things. Power seat does not bother me. It a nice feature but it so much easier and faster for me to set a non power seat any any car. I get in the car and push the seat all the way back. Only one car have I ever had to move it up and that is in my brother 06 accord. The driver seat can go back a few inches farther than the passager seat and I was in shock to learn that it was to far back for me.

As for power mirrors. I dont know how I would get by with out them. Way to offen I get some truck behind me at a light and the head lights hit my side mirror and go right into my eyes. I just adjust the mirror on the fly. That or when I change how I am seating on long trips. Just so much easier.
