I am not sure about 5G as by next year it won’t have achieved the penetration to be relevant to 10% of apples consumers.

Even 4G took years to have decent coverage in the U.K. and USA. 5G will have even slower penetration because of the sheer number of nodes needed for a majority of the population to be within 150-200 meters of a node.

USB c is the future. I’m didn’t upgrade this year because it did t have usb c. Apple is on the path to get rid of the lighting connecter which they should have done years ago

In addition to what's stated above, probably 90 or 120Hz OLED display, smaller notch, time of flight camera. I don't think under screen touch ID will happen until 2021.

And now it’s industry standard and u can use one cable for all. Less electronic waste. less to organize.
Imagine charging your apple macbook and iphone with the same cable😉
