Hello Everybody!

It's been a long time since I've posted on the forums. Hope everyone is doing well!

I've come to seek some advice from all of you fellow photographers on Macrumors. Basically, I have a YouTube channel where I review the latest tech and fortunately, I'll be able to get my hands on the 1D X Mark 2 the day it is released. That being said, I know many people are curious about the camera and how well it'll be able to live up to the hype. With that, I wanted to see if anyone had anything specific that they might expect or want to see in videos about the camera? Additionally, is there any aspect I should focus on when I make the videos?

I've been a hobbyist DSLR photographer for a little less than 10 years and I currently use a 5D Mark 2 with some nice L lenses and have done some freelance gigs here and there. So, I have a little bit of experience with what photographers might want to see in videos, but I'd also want all your inputs as well!

Thank you guys and gals!

I want to see it compared to a D5 in regards to ISO range, AF speed and tracking accuracy, and frames per second.

I'm keen to see what the dynamic range is like. People who have used the beta cameras have noted visible improvements but Canon haven't made any specific claims. The first 1DX was a great camera but it didn't make sense unless you really needed the speed and/or high ISO. This one looks to be a bit more of an all-rounder with enough resolution for most users and full 4k video (not UHD like the Sonys) with dual pixel AF. As someone who shoots stills and video on different cameras, one that could do everything well is quite appealing.

Most of all, I'd like to know how it compares to a future 5D IV but we'll have to wait for that!

Make sure you post the link when you're done.

How do you shoot stable video with it as it does not have IBIS like some Sony, Panasonic, and Olympus bodies? OIS will not substitute for IBIS in shooting video handheld.

I'm not sure if I could compare it to a D5 because I don't think I'll be able to get my hands on it, but I'll definitly try to, nonetheless.

That's very interesting. I'm most certainly going to cover the aspect of the 1D being a camera that satisfies both pictures and videos. Me personally, I use my 5D for mostly pictures and video only when making YouTube videos. Might look into a 4k camcorder only because it's a pain to constantly keep changing the focus ring every time I want to change the focus of the video, so I basically have to split videos into clips.

That's something I'll keep in mind for sure!

Definitely want to see the Dynamic and ISO range.

You got it!

The 1DX Mark II has Dual pixel CMOS AF, so you can save your $ on that new camcorder

Hahaha yeah but contacting the company letting me review the 1D and telling them that I'm going to buy it and drop $6k all at once...let's just say...I wish I could make that call and be able to afford it! Hahaha!
